HMS Beangle

Welcome aboard! We're sailing across North America in our Bean Stalker teardrop trailer. Come share our journey.

Life has thrown us a curveball

Around 11:30 am, a driver ran a red light and crashed into the side of the truck. There is extensive damage to at least four panels, the front wheel, maybe the tie rod, and possibly the electrical system. At this point, we don’t have any idea of when it’ll be repaired or if it’s going to be considered a total loss. The trailer was thankfully unaffected. That would have been a true disaster, in our opinion.

We appear to be fine physically. I’m sure Jeff will be pretty sore and achy over the next 48-72 hours. We’re in a hotel until we can talk with our insurance agent on Monday morning. We have no further info at this time. Fingers crossed, everyone, for the best possible outcome. I’m hoping that we can find some humor in the situation in the future. We’re not there yet.

I’ll put something up soon about last week’s campground. It was a nice, relaxing one.

Oh, no, Jamie! This is dreadful. I hope Jeff doesn’t have any lasting injury or pain. I suggest you go to the ER for any reason. You may want to contact some personal injury attorneys. Insurance companies often want to settle quickly and too low. You probably know you don’t pay anything to this type of attorney unless you win in court. Then their take is a fixed percentage. Please keep us posted!!

We only want the truck repaired well and as quickly as possible. If we find we do have any injuries, despite the relatively low speeds, we’ll definitely seek appropriate care. Thankfully I have a 20 yr background dealing with auto insurance agencies and car accidents, so I know how sleazy both auto insurance agents and personal injury attorneys can be. Hopefully it’ll be a non-issue. 🤞🏻

Thanks, Octie. I’m just glad everyone seems to be ok. Stuff can be fixed and replaced.

Oh no. I’m so sorry to hear this. Fingers crossed for the answers you want. Hopefully the soreness goes away soon and no lingering issues.
